 From the Great Fire to the Globe

The commemorates the Great Fire of 1666. It was constructed of Portland between 1671 and 1677 and it is topped by a flaming copper urn.
There has been a market in Leadenhall since times. Lombard Street is where all the used to have their headquarters.
St Stephen Walbrook, built by Sir Christopher Wren to replace a church in the Fire, is where the Samaritans .
On the South bank, the old Bankside Power station is now world famous as the Modern.
The Globe Theatre we see nowadays is actually the one that has been built here. The first one was built on a because the area was all marshland at the time. People would go by because London Bridge was half a mile away. They had a code to show which kind of play was on: a flag meant a tragedy, white comedy and red . The first Globe burned down when the thatched roof caught fire. After the Great Fire thatched roofs were in London, so the new Globe is the only exception to that rule.
The George, the last coaching in London, used to be a combination of railway station and a stock exchange.
